About Us

This is the official website for the University of Nottingham SIAM (Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics) and IMA (Institute of Mathematics and its Applications) Student Chapter.

Our mission is to promote research in applied maths and encourage communication and collaboration between mathematics, science, engineering and industry.

This is the current 2021 committee. You can find a list of previous committee members here.

Anne Boschman

Anne is a second year PhD student in Applied Mathematics, with an interest in (diffuse) Moving Boundary Problems and Phase-Field Modelling.

Tom Roper

Tom is a second year PhD student in applied mathematics. His research focuses on fluid mechanics, specifically rotating free surface flows.

Celene Lee

Celene is a second year PhD student in Applied Mathematics. Her research focuses on the travelling waves and pattern formation in the solutions of nonlocal reaction-diffusion equations.

Adam Blakey

Adam is a first year PhD student in Applied Mathematics, with a focus on $hp$-adaptive Finite Element Methods and Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems.

Harry Wells

Committee Member

Harry is a second year PhD student in Computational Mathematics working on the study and development of moving mesh methods for polygonal discretization schemes with applications in computational fluid dynamics.

Matteo Icardi

Faculty Advisor
