About Us


This is the official website for the University of Nottingham SIAM (Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics) and IMA (Institute of Mathematics and its Applications) Student Chapter.

Our mission is to promote research in applied maths and encourage communication and collaboration between mathematics, science, engineering and industry.

Oliver Cattell

President

Oliver is a first year PhD student in applied mathematics. His research focuses on mathematical neuroscience with a particular focus on applications to Epilepsy.

Alice Thompson

Vice-President

Alice is a first year PhD student in Epidemic Modelling, focusing on infectious disease outbreaks in hospitals. Her research involves the use of Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods.

Treasurer

Robert is a first year PhD student in Applied Mathematics. His research is focussing on Phase-Amplitude reductions of coupled oscillator networks used for modelling neurons in neuroscience.

Niamh is a first year PhD student in probability. Her research focuses on temporal effects in epidemic modelling.
