Prof. Gary Mirams in the Centre for Mathematical Medicine & Biology and his team have been working on modelling electrical activity in the heart. They work with the pharmaceutical industry and their regulators to use simulations of how heart cells are affected by drugs to predict increased risk of side effects before human clinical trials.
