Navigating the job market with Agne Tilunaite

October 21 @ 15:00 – 16:00

Dr Agne Tilunaite is an applied mathematician focused on modelling biological systems. She completed her PhD in Mathematical Medicine and Biology at the University of Nottingham, where she researched calcium signalling in cells, then moved to the University of Melbourne for a postdoc on calcium dynamics in heart muscle cells. In 2020, she joined the biotech startup InterAx Biotech AG in Switzerland as a Systems Biology Scientist, where she developed methods for parameterising reaction networks and estimating uncertainty, rebuilt the company’s internal data pipeline, and worked closely with experimental scientists on several projects.

In her talk, Agne will share her experience in navigating the job market as a specialised PhD, as she is currently looking for her next role in Switzerland. She will discuss her transitions from PhD to postdoc to industry, across multiple countries, offering her perspective on both academia and industry, and give us a practical overview of what a job search looks like.
